Rare Undivided Commemorative Set of 4 Family Miniatures, Late 18th Century, circa 1780

his rare undivided set comprises 4 commemorative miniatures depicting members of a family, created towards the end of the 18th century, circa 1780. The miniatures are executed in a mixed technique of gouache and watercolor on organic support. The quality of the painting and the fine details suggest that these are works from the French school.

Both young women are dressed in blue with ribbons, but only one has an elaborate coiffure adorned with lily-of-the-valley-like flowers.
Mens are dressed in the style of the late 18th century. One wears an informal reddish-brown suit, while the other sports an elegant jacket with gold embroidery on a blue background and a more squared wig ending in a queue decorated with a bow.
