"Phurba (ritual Dagger), Metal, Tibet"
Used in rituals, the phurba embodies Vajrakila, a powerful Buddhist deity invoked to subdue the forces of evil. Handled by the officiating lama, it annihilates the three poisons of ignorance, greed and hatred. Two different metals are used in the composition, iron for the dorje and the blade, a copper alloy for the faces of the wrathful deities and a shape of makara which holds the blade.
