This fixed view projector is close to the model marketed by Maison Bonne Presse. Foundation which “brought together in a common work, a set of newspapers, publications, books, writings of all kinds, capable of serving the Catholic apostolate” and which also developed the manufacture, sale and use different types of projectors and views as support for the communication of Catholic ideas. Maison Bonne Presse published the newspaper “Le Pélerin” in 1880 and “La Croix” in 1882 and later became Bayard Presse, still the exclusive property of the Augustins of the Assomption. In March 1899, the first issue of “The Angel of Light Projections” appeared in Lyon, the first Catholic periodical devoted to light projections which were used very early for catechism or for conferences and which attracted many people, including curious people who came see the projections (like a show). This fixed view projection device from the end of the 19th century is made of “Russian” sheet metal (glossy black patina, rich in carbon?), equipped with a 110 mm condenser and a rack-and-pinion lens. At the rear, on the opening door, there is a raised rooster in front of a sunrise (logo?). Inside, an opening burner with 4 independently adjustable wicks and a mica plate protecting the condenser. The parts which are not made of sheet metal are made of brass or nickel-plated. In good used condition for a 19th century piece, some minor defects. use .
