Large and deep Regency period armchair in beech wood. Characteristic of the 1720s, this piece features the emergence of curves in the armrests and legs, which soften the lines of the chair, the setback of the armrest consoles to accommodate pannier dresses, and the disappearance of the stretcher, which lightens the overall appearance. This chair, typical of fireside chats, heralds a new art of living increasingly focused on comfort and intimacy.
Very good condition, with customary restorations and maintenance.
The antique needlepoint upholstery is in very good condition but is not the original.
