Clock Laura And Petrarch, The Poet And His Pretty Muse flag

Object description :

"Clock Laura And Petrarch, The Poet And His Pretty Muse"
Very beautiful clock from the Restoration period circa 1820. Made of very finely chiseled mercury-gilded bronze. Large female figure with the figure of Laura seated, leaning on her right arm, holding in her left hand a medallion bearing the portrait of Petrarch. Bronze dial highlighted by a guilloché border.

Rectangular base decorated with a bas-relief decorated with a swing accompanied by cupids and butterflies symbolizing the story of Laura and the Italian poet Petrarch... mad love, but without hope of reciprocity of feelings, with the lady of his heart...

Original mechanism without modification, hour and half-hour strike on old bell.
