Marie-Madeleine Gérard or Marie-Madeleine Bourguignon or Mady Bourguignon is a painter born in Arlon in 1901 and died in Paris in 1983. As a child, she studied with Évariste Carpentier, director of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. The first exhibition of his works took place in Liège, in 1920, at the Œuvre des Artistes. She also participates in the triennial Paris Salons. In 1937, her work, which she signed Marie-Madeleine Bourguignon, was exhibited in Brussels, at the Salle Demar. In 1939, she organized a private exhibition in the workshop she owned in Brussels, avenue de la Couronne. In 1941 and 1943, new exhibitions at the Toison d'or gallery in Brussels, framing that at the Aghte gallery in Antwerp, in 1942. His art of portraiture earned him important commissions. In 1959, she left Brussels permanently and set up her studio in Paris.
