"Beautiful Jardinière, Earthenware From Marseille From The Widow Perrin, 19th Century."
Ovoid in shape, it bears two finely painted medallions: on one side a coastal scene animated by two washerwomen, one of whom buys fish from a fisherman; on the other is represented a bouquet of roses. On either side, two rosehip branches adorn two 'grip handles'. Bright red edging and 'flags' complete the decoration. Under the base the "VP" brand of the Widow Perrin in Marseille, director of a flourishing company whose production continued into the 19th century.
