"Relic Of Saint Maurice With Interesting Seals Of The Ursulines – Circa 1700"
Maurice, a Roman soldier, won by the Faith, was martyred in Agaune in 287. He is notably the Patron Saint of the diocese of Angers. One of his relics fixed on red velvet appears in this reliquary frame in carved wood, black and gold lacquered and with scrolls. It houses a rich floral arrangement in golden threads, pearls and beads, centered with a painted miniature.
On the back are five wax seals from the Ursuline convent of Flavigny, in Moselle, where they settled in 1632 and those until the French revolution.
A work from the beginning of the 18th century
