"Dan Miniature Mask - Ivory Coast, Early 20th Century"
This diminutive mask was either a charm, intended to protect its possessor, or a sort of temporary receptacle for the spirit of a damaged, larger mask. While waiting for a new mask to be made, it was possible to transfer the spirit into this miniature.First half 20th century - light wood, wear, two perforations on the forehead.
