Greyhound Playing Ball - Bronze with Black Patina by Pierre-Jules Mène (1810-1879)   in a playful pose by the sculptor Pierre-Jules Mène, one of the main members of the school of French animal sculptors and a specialist in small bronze pieces. He is known as one of the finest and most prolific animal sculptors of all time.   The piece has a beautiful highlighted aged patina.   The dog's ball rests on the decorated base with molded edge and signed P J Mène.   In very good condition (please see photos).    An exceptional piece of craftsmanship.   Height: 10.5cm Width: 14.5cm Depth: 9cm   Period: 19th century
