Painting By Andre Paly, Painter Of The Mancelles Alps

Pretty painting, oil on canvas by ANDRE PALY, (1889-1979) from St Ceneri-le-Gerei, a hilltop village in Orne known for its artistic notoriety. Who doesn't know St Ceneri le Gerei, one of the most beautiful villages in France and its history. In the middle of the 19th century, its beauty attracted painters who came to live there or were hosted at the Auberge des sisters Moisy and the Hôtel Legangneux. Among the best-known painters, we find Corot of course in 1845 then Gustave Courbet, Henri Harignies. From 1875 until 1925, artists who had not necessarily met were grouped together under the name School of St Ceneri. There we find Mary Renard, Paul Sain, René Veillon and ANDRE PALY and many others.... Andre Paly was born in St Pierre des Nids in Mayenne, he painted the landscapes of the Alpes Mancelles between St Ceneri-le-Gerei and St Leonard des Bois.
