Rare Macchad prayer rug, Persia, Iran circa 1880 in hand-knotted wool, for approximately 360,000 knots per m2, in superb used condition.
Its dimensions are 133 cm wide by 227 cm long.
The dimensions and weight make it a decorative piece, this carpet could not be used for worship as it is heavy and dense, Muslims use light carpets for prayer that are easy to transport.
The decor is specific to the time of the Kadjar dynasty, the "Empire of Roses", which is why the rose is constantly present in these decors, just as in Persian art in general.
There remains a vision of paradise, the large flowered niche leads to contemplation.
This beautiful, heavy and thick rug comes from the province of Mechhed.
Due to its rare bright colors, this highly crafted piece deserves a prime location, a wall would put it to its best advantage.
Mecched is the second largest city in Iran located in the Northeast, it is nicknamed "the city of a thousand faces." This rug is in very good condition, it has a decoration of large palm leaves supporting a blue vase filled with roses and other flowers like a tree of life.
The composition stands out against a powerful yellow and an electric blue, covering the field.
The power of the colors makes this rug joyful, the borders with a pink background are clever.
Small eyelets follow two water lines meandering happily, they bring the feeling of eternity desired in this type of piece.
This medallion represents two stylized flowers next to each other, surrounded by sixteen large lotus flowers.
All over the field appear fine wavy scrolls of flowers, and vases filled with bouquets of roses.
