"Rare Large Saint Benedict Medal In Bronze - Early 17th Century - Demon Protection"
Rare large bronze Saint-Benoit medal. On the obverse, we can see Saint Benedict face-on, his right hand outstretched and his left hand holding his saint's toga. Inscriptions: SP BENEDICTUS On the reverse, a phrase inscribed in Latin and taken from the Psalms (72-25). WHAT MIHI IS IN COELO AND A TE QUID VOLUI SUPER TERRAM? This medal was pierced to be worn as a pendant (probably original). These pendant medals are very rare. They were used by certain priests during exorcism sessions, because they are supposed to protect against evil forces, accidents or illnesses.
