Object description :

"Pair Of Empire Period Candelabra."
Important pair of large gilt bronze and chiseled candelabra from the Empire period. Early 19th century. These candlesticks represent the goddess Tyche and the god Plutus deities of abundance, fertility, fortune and carrying the light symbolized by the torch with 4 fluted arms, decorated with scrolls and overflowing with vine fruits and flowers. The statue rests on a sphere representing the Earth (without decorations and therefore sterile!), itself placed on a pedestal in the shape of a column richly decorated with plant garlands, musical attributes, a swan with outstretched wings... These Antique decorations are characteristic of the Empire style and all to the glory of the Emperor Napoleon. Very slight traces of wear to the gilding on the base of the base. Very well preserved original gilding. Complete with its binets and bobèches. Very good state. To be compared to the work of Thomire.
