Gorm Hansen, born in 1886 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and died in 1952, is a renowned Danish painter. He is primarily known for his works depicting landscapes and rural scenes, often inspired by the Auvergne region of France. Hansen trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he developed his distinctive style. In 1912, Hansen completed a notable mural for the former Damien Hotel, demonstrating his talent in the field of mural painting. His works are present in several public collections, including the art and archeology museum of the town of Aurillac, in Auvergne, where several of his paintings are exhibited. One of his works, entitled Den gamle trappe i Saint -Christophe-les-Gorges, Auvergne, reflects his particular attachment to this French region. The painting represents a typical autumn landscape of Saint-Christophe-les-Gorges, with abundant nature and fog in the background. Gorm Hansen's contribution to art is also marked by his theoretical influence, enriching the field of Danish and European painting with his innovative perspectives and techniques. His career has left a lasting imprint, and his works continue to be appreciated for their beauty and artistic depth. His remains rest in the Massigoux cemetery, in Aurillac, in Cantal.
