The subject of the work is the Colleoni chapel in Bergamo, commissioned by the leader Bartolomeo Colleoni (1392/1395-1475) for the artist Giovanni Antonio Amadeo (1447-1522), and part of the church of Santa Maria Maggiore (the north door and part of the structure).
The model is made of carved and painted wood, paper, pastille, papier-mâché, glass and majolica and has a height of 106.8 cm, a width of 74 cm and a depth of 15 cm.
Although obviously simplified in detail, it presents a significant fidelity to the monument and its sculptural details; and it is an extremely interesting document also because it depicts the chapel in a situation that is no longer visible today.
Following the discovery of the work in an important collection, an in-depth documentary study was carried out on it, aimed at giving it a more precise historical and temporal location.
(the study is naturally available to anyone who wants to learn more about the subject)
