Great painting from the second half of the 19th century. Oil on canvas artwork, first canvas, signed G. Mantegazza and therefore attributable to the painter Giacomo Mantegazza, lacking authentication. Introduced to painting by Domenico Induno, he worked in Lombardy in a period in which genre painting intersected with realism. He was one of the most famous Italian painters for scenes in eighteenth-century costume and our painting is a clear example. In fact, we see a gallant scene with characters in eighteenth-century clothes of great charm. Spectacular contemporary frame in carved and gilded wood, with some small missing parts and losses of gilding (see photo). Overall, the painting is in good condition. Sight size H 113 x W 62 cm.
