Gabon, Fang people, mid-20th century, very beautiful ceremonial fan in wood and leather. The handle consists of a beautiful carved wooden statuette depicting a standing woman, her legs slightly bent and her hands resting on her stomach. The fan itself is made up of a skin pierced around the edge to allow a leather strap to run along the sides and to attach the statuette acting as a handle to form a single whole.
