"Important Pair Of Covered Marble Vases In Louis XV 19th Century Style"
Important pair of vases covered in antique green marble and gilded bronze mounts from the late 19th century. Flared bodies decorated on each side with a gilded bronze handle of an animated shape finely chiseled with a bouquet of reeds on its top. Upper part surrounded by a foliage molding with a shell in the center on each side. Lid topped with a delicately chiseled exploded pomegranate, marble pedestal resting on a square gilt bronze base chiseled with foliage. Original gilding in very good condition cleaned by our workshop. The Louvre Museum has had a pair of identical vases in its collection since 1909, also part of the National Furniture inventory (see photo and link from Mobiler National). Our pair of vases was made after a model made in Rome in the 17th century, the gilded bronze frame was added in Paris in the 18th century. This vase is also part of the Louvre Museum collection (see photo) https://collection.mobilier-national.fr/objet/GML-8042-001 https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/ 53355/cl010089584
