Pirot kilim weaving has been included in the national inventory of intangible cultural heritage of Serbia under the auspices of UNESCO. The first Pirot kilims were woven from the 9th century. Weavers continue to use the best quality wool taken from sheep of the Pramenka breed.
Splendid Pirot kilim with very fine weave. The large size of this kilim corresponds to a European demand since the end of the 19th century. The repeating pattern in the field of the rug is typical of this origin. A light border contrasts with the coral red of the kilim field.
