"Pair Of Albarelli In The Taste Of Faenza 19th Century "
Surprising pair of large polychrome albarelli in the Faenza style, made in the 19th century, in earthenware from Gien or Blois. They are mounted on a solid Asian-style bronze base, and edged at the neck with a finish of the same metal, equipped with heavy rings. This composite spirit is a characteristic of decorative manufacturing in the mid-19th century, borrowing greedily from all styles. This assembly would make it possible to perhaps insert kerosene lamps with copper tanks inside and thus create, in the fashion of the day, utilitarian objects, evoking both Asia and Italy of the Renaissance, which is a feat.... They have initials and a name covered by the mount, which I did not dare to take down. Artists like Ulysse Bernard in Blois created works in this spirit, like the Faïencerie de Gien. No accident, very good original condition.
