He is shown sitting in an armchair, drawing. Perhaps it is the painter himself or an artist friend. We also notice in a drawing board a caricature of a man who does not seem to be that of the model, perhaps of Marsan himself. On the walls and here and there a few paintings and trinkets including a pair of slippers probably made of earthenware, but that's not certain... On the ceiling a beautiful Asian lantern. Lots of charming details in this beautiful painting of the interior by a late 19th century artist. Oil on you in very good condition signed lower left E. Marsal 1878.
