Spectacular Renaissance style Solid Silver Teapot resting on four cut-out feet. Body surrounded by a wide band with a textured ground and an applied monogrammed cartouche framed on each side by Griffons within foliage scrolls. Magnificent handle attachment represents a "Green Man" mascaron, and an applied woman's headis featured on each side of the spout. The domed lid is surmounted by a finial representing a upright feline (?) holding a blank cartouche leaning against a tree stump.Masterly crafted from the highest quality silver, it is punched with Minerva 1st Standard hallmarks (.950) and mark of Master Goldsmiths Claude DOUTRE-ROUSSEL (Hallmark with his name "D ROUSSEL and a double two domino) active in 1895. This spectacular Renaissance style teapot is in very good condition, revised and cleaned by our Goldsmith, just a trace of an old reprise on one foot and light signs of use to note. A pure marvel to discover through the attached photos....
