This center table is in excellent condition and of a superior quality , typical of the work of this renowned cabinetmaker.
François Linke (1855 - 1946) was without a doubt the most important Parisian cabinetmaker of his time. First an apprentice in his hometown of Pankraz, Linke arrived in Paris in 1875 and founded his own workshop in 1881 at 170 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine.
Around 1900, he was at the head of a real company of ninety workers.
If François Linke had, in his beginnings, a private and sometimes even renowned clientele, he had to work for many years in the shadow of renowned cabinetmaking houses.
This is why most of his “youthful” works will not only be signed so as not to tell customers of these houses the origin of their furniture but may bear other stamps than that of F.Linke.
