Large terminal clock in chased red patinated and gilded bronze on a Morello cherry marble base from Italy, representing in bas relief Anacreon, seated on a seat in the ancient Greek style holding his lyre, a winged love at his side, and a cup of wine placed to his right on a stele. The sides are decorated with masks and crossed spears and attributes of Bacchus. The base is decorated with two griffins guarding the contents of the urn on which they are leaning. It rests on 4 flattened ball feet. White enameled dial signed by Manière à Paris, framed by a frieze of vine branches and vine leaves. The movement with an operating life of 8 days strikes the hours and half-hours, the suspension is by wire. Empire period, circa 1806 -1807. The bronzes are attributed to Claude Galle. (the decoration of leaning griffins is often used on the particularly distinguished clocks of C Galle) This model is also signed on the RAVRIO dial, the clock presents swans instead of winged griffins.
