Templar Pluteus In Sandstone. 13th Century flag

Object description :

"Templar Pluteus In Sandstone. 13th Century"
A very interesting unpublished Templar Pluteus with the central representation of the Holy Grail and esoteric symbols carved in high relief on sandstone. Origin: Sicilian private crypt.
This Pluteus shows in the center the image of the cross that appears radiant from the Holy Grail. The esoteric Templar symbol par excellence of the invincibility of Christianity, the Holy Grail, surrounded by a pair of peacocks, symbol of the immortality of the soul; the spiral, symbol of infinity; the optogram, an eight-pointed asterisk, probably relating to the Templar Commandery of reference; a crowned Lion facing and laterally two double-headed eagles that we believe may refer to the Hohenstaufen and therefore to Frederick II
