The work in question depicts a view of the San Marco Basin that can be traced back to the 19th century. 
From an iconographic point of view, in the canvas we find in the foreground a series of sailing boats, trying to throw into the channel a kind of fishing net, The European Commission has published a study on the situation of the European textile industry in the United States. In the background, however, in the distance, you can see the Doge’s Palace of Venice and the high bell tower of San Marco, while on the left, almost imperceptible, It would seem visible the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute, authentic example of Venetian baroque architecture. 
The style adopted by the artist is characterized by a marked realism that combines deep search of authenticity, sincere inspiration and refined recovery of values closely related to romanticism. The painters who were inspired by this school, wanted to paint the world around them, paying special attention to open spaces, wide landscapes, unspoiled nature, humble workers, educated in the actions of daily life: they represented what their eyes saw in direct grasp, drawing directly on their moods and feelings, abandoning the rigid devices suggested by the study of academic art. 
It is possible to notice a certain predilection for the sunset atmospheres, as in this case, harmoniously rendered with warm and orange tones: through a panoramic the artist is able to make the transparency of the air, the vibrations of the atmosphere in the distance and the succession at a distance of different color impressions.
