Fulvio Platinetti was born in Tollegno (Biella) on February 28, 1928.
Platinetti did not so much paint things as “the look,” that is, a poetic condition. His investigation, which was carried out in a naturalistic key, takes up modes proper to the neorealistic moment, though without indulging in patterns or falling into narrow conformism. Unadorned of all the trappings that surround, by iconographic and sociological tradition, the figure and the condition of the painter, Platinetti seems to have banned himself from the so-called world of painting and its institutions, its clichés, with the most drastic of denials: keeping silent about it always and at all costs.
He trained at the school of Pippo Pozzi and found the roots of his art in postwar Neorealism, but not without influences from painters such as Picasso and Guttuso, and from Abstractionism.
He began exhibiting in 1951, immediately meeting the interest of the most qualified critics. This was followed by a large number of exhibition opportunities, more than a hundred, in major Italian cities and also in Germany, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Japan, Monte Carlo and the United States. He also participated in important group exhibitions of contemporary art.
