The Yuzen-Birodo technique was invented by Nishimura Sozaemon of Kyoto in 1868. Velvet was woven by passing threads through thin metal wires parallel to the weft, then cut to form the velvet. The precision of the cut allows you to obtain a three-dimensional effect.
