"Queen's Bites And Veal's Head"
Mr. Aimé Leeun born in Bruges in 1867, In 1893, Miss Marie Demolin probably met her dashing future husband one evening of December 26 between sweetbreads with mushrooms and a lobster salad. He was already a doctor….In consultations he often recommended fasting…His daughter made her first communion in 1909, his son, Joseph, celebrated it in 1906, and gossip obliges, Mr. Leeun made a North African journey in 1927 and he survived a cruise in 1931... On February 15, a last timpani and a few chickens preceded a frozen parfait... Mr. Leeun died. Alas, his relatives did not tell us what... But, upon discovering these documents lost in drawers, we begin to think that his joys had nothing to do with it. This is because he frequently made good cheer to the good doctor. He lived up to his first name... The feasts, banquets, feasts and other feasts followed one another, competing in gluttony. Beautiful collection of twenty-six menus dated between 1891 and 1931, i.e. 40 years of pleasures to which are added twenty other undated menus…. Great achievement Mr Leeun. Now it’s up to us to enjoy reading everything you’ve ingested…. Jaques Brel could have made a song with this rather worldly character... "one-step, two-step, three-step menus..." Have fun finding the price of a Saint Julien wine at the end of the 19th century... Rare together, despite some duplicates where we can follow the good doctor's dietary adventures.
