"The Bouquet By Charles Hall Thorndike (1875-1935)"
Very beautiful work by the American artist Charles Hall THORNDIKE (1875-1935). It is an Oil on canvas signed upper right and measuring 65 x 54 cm (83 x 72 cm with its frame). The painting is in good condition and has never been cleaned or restored. There is an inscription at the bottom right that I was unable to decipher and the label of a framer in Nice on the back of the frame. Charles Hall THORNDIKE owned a villa at the end of the old port of Nice. He was close to Paul SIGNAC who frequently visited him at his other house in Kermouster, Brittany, where MATISSE would also come. MATISSE had a lot of friendship for THORNDIKE and he kept the THORNDIKE art collection in his vault at the Bank of France during the Second World War. Free delivery in Paris possible.
