The Warwick Vase is a Roman marble vase decorated with Bacchic motifs discovered in the ruins of Emperor Hadrian's villa in 1771 by Garvin Hamilton, a Scottish painter and antiquary in Rome. The object was then restored under the supervision of the antiquary James Byres and the advice of Piranesi. After the British Museum refused to purchase it, the object was sold in 1878 to George Greville, second earl of Warwick, who placed it on a lawn at his castle, before housing it in a greenhouse built especially for this purpose. In 1977, it was purchased by the Burrell Collection which has exhibited it in Glasgow since 1978. (Source Wikipedia). We are at your disposal for any further information.
