BLADE: This is a very beautiful blade, in excellent condition. It is single-edged, with a counter-edged edge on the last 17 cm near the tip. On each face, there are two fine fullers and a wider one.
Rich incrustations adorn the external face of the first 14 centimeters of the external face., They represent flowers, as well as two birds facing each other, which surround a very clear punchmark , in the shape of a "ewer of purity", which symbolizes the Prophet.
Another inlay that I have difficulty interpreting decorates this same face; at the end of the fullers.
Length of the blade = 58.5 cm, width near the handle = 4.2 cm, thickness near the handle = 5.6 mm
HANDLE: it is made up of two bone plates which are riveted to the tang by 3 rivets placed on pieces of silver coin, bearing Arabic characters.
SCABBARD : It is made of wood covered with stitched black leather. The original suspension ring is present, it is made of iron with inlays.
The entrance to the scabbard and its opposite end are covered with a embossed metal foil, probably silver.
At the entrance to the scabbard representation on the external face of 2 palace guards dressed in antique style, carrying spears and facing each other. On the inner side a doe in a medallion. The doe is of course a symbol of purity in Islam, but it is also supposed to attract luck and prosperity.
At the level of the bouterolle: embossed floral decoration.
The great interest of this weapon is of course its blade, which shows obvious forging quality.
