"Jean Veber The Monster"
Beautiful color lithograph printed on Japanese paper representing a naked woman sleeping in a clearing observed by a multitude of men. The print dating from 1907 is titled The Monster in the catalog raisonné of Veber and Lacroix where it is numbered 52. Numbered 26/125 and signed in pencil lower right, it is framed in a modern frame, measured on the board 29.3x38 cm and has some slight foxing. Jean Veber (1864-1928) began his career as a painter, a student at the Paris School of Fine Arts of Alexandre Cabanel and Jules-Elie Delaunay. His brother, working at Gil Blas, encouraged him to make caricatures for the press. Success, with scandals and censorship, will come immediately. He will also participate in the laughter and the plate of butter.
