"Large Aubusson Tapestry Characters Dance Landscape Castle Coat Of Arms XVIIth"
Rare large Aubusson tapestry representing a group of characters dancing in a green landscape, a castle in the background, border with rich decoration of foliage, foliage, scallops, trumpets and dolphins, upper corners decorated with coats of arms topped with a count's crown and the lower corners of a medallion containing a Sacred Heart, from the 17th century. This tapestry is in good condition and is of exceptional quality. It is very decorative due to its large dimensions. Its iconography can be compared to the famous engraving "Le Branle" by Claudine Bouzonnet Stella (1638-1697), kept at the Municipal Library of Lyon (Pastorales series) and which inspired numerous tapestries of the time. The attributes of the border point us towards a man of Justice or Law, a magistrate or an advisor to Parliament. The arms at the top left ("azure with a dexter half flight of silver placed in a band") may make us think of the Blanc de Luveaune family, who gave several advisors to the Parliament of Provence, in Aix. Note: some wear on the tapestry, look carefully at the photos. PLEASE NOTE: FOR A DELIVERY QUOTE CONTACT US WITH CITY AND COUNTRY OF DESTINATION. BE CAREFUL: PLEASE CONTACT US FOR THE DELIVERY PRICE.
