Object description :

"Antique Beehive Royal Vienna Porcelain Cobalt Blue Vase, C. 1820-1827"
An antique signed vase in royal Vienna porcelain, gilded and hand painted in cobalt blue. It features a hand-painted central cartouche depicting a young girl playing with a cherub who has removed her flower crown. The painting is signed by the artist Riemer at the bottom right. The vase is richly decorated with two-tone gilding, relief ornaments and white enamel ornaments over the entire surface. The bottom of the vase is cobalt blue and the frame of the cartouche, as well as the upper and lower edges, are decorated in gold. Hand-painted royal objects from Vienna are extremely detailed and well-designed. The painter Riemer is one of the most respected artists who worked at the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory. The porcelain he painted has a higher artistic and commercial value than many other works from the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory. The vase bears the beehive mark of the Imperial and Royal Manufacture of Vienna, corresponding to the period mentioned, stamped asymmetrically in underglaze blue. The base also bears the inscription "Grazie u. Amor" ("Grace and Cherub"). Royal Vienna porcelain is the product of the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, founded in 1718 and continued until 1864. This company was the second oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe after that of Dresden (Meissen). Initially it was a private company, founded by Claude du Paquier, an official of the Viennese imperial court, but in 1744 it was rescued from its financial difficulties when it was bought by Empress Marie -Thérèse, and she subsequently remained an asset of the emperors. The Vienna Porcelain Manufactory produced a wide range of ceramics, including tableware, tea sets, and decorative objects, often decorated with elaborate painted designs and gilded decorations. The company quickly gained a reputation for its high-quality porcelain, and by the mid-18th century it was one of the leading porcelain manufacturers in Europe. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory moved toward more neoclassical designs, emphasizing simplicity and elegance. The works of the Royal Vienna Manufacture are represented in museums around the world. The Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Vienna produced some magnificent enamels that are worth considering. This old vase should please antique lovers. Dimensions of the vase: Height: 15 cm Diameter: 8.2 cm State of conservation: Slight loss of gilding commensurate with age. Small puncture on the edge. Small dent on the side, apparently a manufacturing defect. Otherwise, excellent state of conservation. Please study the photographs accompanying the item carefully, as they form an integral part of this description. Item will be shipped with full tracking and insurance.
