"Museum: Cutler's Anvil, Locksmith, Renaissance Period, By Jacobus"
No Export outside European Union without prior agreement.
Small iron anvil, welded on forge in several parts, superbly decorated on 2 faces, the first with lion paws, a smiling face in mascaron applied on name of blacksmith, the second with 2 applied faces, (including one did not hold up to fire), and the large, legible signature of Jacobus.
Collectors and experts (which I am not) will appreciate this unobtainable (and roomy) object.
Dimensions = 28.5cm x height 14cm x 10cm. Weight: 7.04kg.
Provenance: a former high-period collector from Nice.
As found, old patina untouched.
Probable period late 16th or first half 17th century .
