Original drypoints by Paul-Emile Bécat BECAT Paul Emile is a French painter, engraver and designer. He won a first second Grand Prix de Rome in 1920. BECAT became known through the portraits of French writers that he produced. He traveled a lot and won several African prizes, thus establishing himself as a good representative of Africanism, a Western artistic and literary movement of the 19th century. From 1933, he specialized in the drypoint technique which he used for erotic and romantic texts.
