Hugo Duchateau, born in Tienen in 1938, lives and works in Saint-Trond. After studying glass painting at the Higher Provincial Institute of Architecture and Applied Arts in Hasselt, Hugo Duchateau works as an independent artist. He taught for many years at the Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg, department Media & Design Academy (Genk), now LUCA School of Arts, where he is currently an honorary professor. Hugo Duchateau can be considered an important representative of fundamental painting in which his work evolves from hyperrealism to conceptual art, to free painting, always emotional but mastered like an accomplished master.
