"Samson Manufacture - Love In Porcelain Biscuit After Falconet Louis XVI Style"
Soft porcelain biscuit statue representing The Nymph Psyche by Falconet in the form of a young girl seated on a round base hiding the arc of Love. Signature of the Samson Manufacture below copying that of Sèvres. This model of the Nymph by Etienne Maurice Falconet was created in 1761 and exhibited at the salon, as a counterpart to Menacing Love commissioned by Madame de Pompadour and exhibited at the Salon in 1757. This subject and its counterpart, Menacing Love, had a great success throughout the 18th century and the 19th century in different materials: biscuit, bronze, terracotta, marble... Our reissue is characteristic of the taste of the 18th century reinterpreted in the 19th century, here the Samson Manufacture has added to the young girl the wings of threatening love, the composition thus being very successful. It is in perfect condition, no accidents (except a missing rose bud on the base to the left of the subject: very discreet). This object was 3D scanned on Proantic. Height: 23cm Diameter: 12.5cm
