Jean Baptiste Victor Barbizet (1808-1884), commonly known as Victor Barbizet, was a French ceramist. He is the founder of the “Parisian School” which is part of the neo-Palissean movement of the 19th century. A merchant from Dijon, he set up his workshop in Paris in 1850, where he still produces ceramics in the Palissy style. In 1858, he obtained the gold medal for ceramics in Dijon. His productions are characterized by an intense blue background. He has a son, Claude-Achille Barbizet, with whom he obtained certain prizes.
