He came to settle in Paris at the end of the 1830s and married Zoé-Philippine Vavasseur in 1840. He established his cabinetmaking workshop at 39, rue Saint-Sébastien, he quickly achieved great notoriety and no less than 600 workers and craftsmen worked in his factory in 1870.
From the middle of the 19th century, Diehl had positioned itself as one of the capital's major cabinetmakers and participated in most of the major French and international exhibitions, regularly winning awards, notably a bronze medal in 1855.
