Born in Moscow in 1790, Elisa Victorine Henry exhibited at the Salon in Paris between 1822 and 1850 under the name "Melle Henry". She married the painter François Vincent Latil. She then changed her name to Eugénie Latil. The Maison Victor Hugo in Paris has a work by his hand Quasimodo saving Esméralda from the hands of her executioners. This portrait can be dated around 1830.
There are several portraits of Miss Henry presented at the Salon in 1833.
