Geiger was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Through his teachers he later became a student of the historical painter Joseph von Führich. Geiger focused on many historical and religious themes and was able to make a name for himself early. In addition to his independent work, it is also worth mentioning commissioned works, including the design of a votive altar in St. Stephen's Cathedral, the large curtain of the Carltheater and the artistic design of several rooms in the Kinsky Palace and the Stock Exchange of Vienna. Geiger also provided many models (designs) for other artists' woodcuts.
