"Antique Figurine "mystery Of The Child", Royal Dux By Alois Hampel, C. 1919 г"
Royal Dux porcelain, produced in Duchcov, Bohemia, since 1853, was founded by Eduard Eichler. Initially, the company specialized in the production of white porcelain, but soon began to experiment with color and decoration. The company enjoyed a period of prosperity, mainly producing terracotta, earthenware and majolica items. The designs inspired by products from Copenhagen, Worcester and Sèvres were a great success and earned the company a silver medal at the Paris Exhibition in 1878. After Eduard Eichler's death in 1887, his widow Amalia Eichler continued to run the company until 1890. In the 1870s, Royal Dux began producing figurines, which became the company's main business in the early 20th century. Today, Royal Dux figurines are collectibles and the company continues to produce both porcelain tableware and figurines. The Art Nouveau period was an important era for the company, with chief model maker Alois Hampel leading the design efforts. Under Hampel's leadership, the factory enjoyed considerable success, winning the Grand Prix at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, the silver medal at the 1906 Milan Exposition, and the gold medal at the Liberec exhibition. Some pieces from this era are still produced today. This large and impressive Royal Dux figurine by Alois Hampel represents a mother and her child. Hampel's monogram, "AH", is engraved on the reverse. The artistic skill of the creator and artisans at Royal Dux is evident in the meticulous execution of this figurine. The facial expression of the mother listening to the child, the pose of the little girl and the color palette show that this piece is not a mass-produced product, but a work of art created by the hands of a master.
