"Pieta Jean Goulden"
Pieta painted on a wooden panel. Gold paint on the background and enamel paint for the scene. The status of this piece is uncertain: model of the large champlevé email or multiple based on it. It is framed in a damaged Louis XVI style wooden and gilded stucco frame and bears the number 2 and a Jean Goulden mention on the back. Jean Goulden (1878-1946), medical doctor then patron and decorator, discovered the email technique during his convalescence after his participation in the Dardanelles expedition during the First World War. He will collaborate with Jean Dunand and François Louis Schmied with his enamels.
