Large Statue of the Virgin in polychrome porcelain enhanced with gold, it rests on a green and gold base richly decorated with rococo motifs. Known as the Virgin of the Assumption, the Blessed Virgin Mary rests on a celestial globe, bruising the head of the serpent with her heel, symbolizing evil. Paris porcelain, mid-19th century. Typical work of the style of Jacob Petit, popular in the 1840s. Work from his unsigned workshop or from a follower Very good general condition, beautiful polychromy and dazzling gilding in matte and shiny with some wear. A little shine to the snake, discreet.
