Object description :

"Amber Pendant In The Shape Of A Flower, China, Late 19th Century"
Yellow amber pendant from China. It represents a flower. Finely cut, the amber contains inclusions of various plants. It has a braided cord with a handmade Chinese knot for wearing as a pendant. The Chinese knot is a good luck charm. It is thought to have been made in prehistoric times, and became popular during the Tang dynasty (618-907). In Korea, where the technique has been exported, these decorative knots are known as maedeup.
