"G'bekre Monkey Statue, Ivory Coast."
Very old Baoulé sculpture from the first half of the 20th century, a 63 cm statue in hardwood very characteristic of the ethnic group covered with a thick crusty patina, the power of the work embodies the importance of this beneficial "genius" or divinity half man half monkey. This object was part of the collection of Mr p. Fougerouse (famous rally-raid driver, in particular the DAKAR between the years 1970 to 1985) made up of objects acquired during his many journeys across the African continent, a collection of high quality quite recognized. It should be noted accidents with lacks on the sculpture but whose aesthetic integrity remains nonetheless well preserved. A very rare precious object of this quality.
