"Baoulé Maternity Hospital In Ivory Coast."
Remarkable Baoulé sculpture in very hard wood from the first half of the 20th century. A statue of very beautiful workmanship and large size (approximately 60cms), a sculpture eroded by time and ancient attacks by xylophages in no way affecting the aesthetic quality of the statue. Traces of original polychromy are still visible. This object comes from the collection of Mr P. Fougerouse (famous professional rally raid car driver in particular from the Dakar of the years 1970-85), a collection put together with discernment through these different journeys throughout Africa. Note the collection labels on the object, a very beautiful, truly old, RARE object.
